Dragonkind Black and Blue Dragon Routes

Spoilers ahead. Reaching a scene where a rare dragon appears is not the same thing as bonding it. The records below carefully separate three milestones: when an option appears on your screen, when an encounter starts, and when a bond actually succeeds.

Branch 01 · Western Shadow Continuation · Sources: [s13, s14, s15]

Tree-shadow to black

Entry condition: while up in the tree, your screen displays an extra choice mentioning a shadow moving west. Do not confuse this with a normal “head west” direction choice earlier in the forest.

Player u/Altruistic-Lack-1709 initially shared this 12-step continuation from another rider and later updated their post after reproducing it themselves. Treat it as a documented community log, not a test run performed by this guide (Detailed report and edit[s13]).

04Blue beside the redwoodFreeze and lower your eyes.

09Burn-care optionsCut a clean uniform sleeve and wrap the burn.

Reported endpoint: a black bond. Note that the burn-care selection in step 09 is strictly an in-game story prompt, not real-world medical or first-aid advice.

Getting to the shadow: two different reported approaches

How do you get the western shadow option to show up in the first place? Two separate black-bond reports reached the tree using very different openings:

Approach A · Solo Entry

u/BigTgs’s reported path

Entered alone → headed toward the forest center → lowered eyes at the early encounter → investigated the scream → helped the cadet → let the squadmate take revenge → went deeper into the forest and climbed the tree (Solo approach report[s14]). Intermediate combat choices were not fully recorded.

Approach B · Group Entry

u/Unlucky-Machine-3160’s path

Entered with other cadets → headed west → helped the injured cadet → left the bullies alive before reaching the tree shadow and continuing to a black bond (Group approach report[s15]).

Because both runs reached the shadow, you should not treat “must enter alone” or “must personally kill the bullies” as universal prerequisites. Neither account establishes the percentage chance of the shadow option appearing.

No shadow option on your screen?

If the tree only offers the standard descent choices, the 12-step table above does not apply to your current run. Pick from the options actually displayed on your screen. Our regular scene guide covers the two-green and tree-red branches. Missing the shadow option on a given run does not mean your account is bugged.

Branch 02 · Valley-to-Meadow Approach · Source: Player route log [s17]

Meadow-blue approach

Entry condition: you are taking the valley-center route into the open meadow, rather than encountering the blue dragon beside the redwood on the tree-shadow branch.

Player u/Smart_Trifle_2099 reported a blue bond using an opening that started alone → center → initial red sighting, followed by this exact sequence:

Investigate the scream → help → pause and assess → fight the smaller cadet → personally end the bullies → forest → valley center → decline the red → meadow (where a blue may appear alongside brown and orange).

In the same log, their initial-brown branch instead skips the scream, ignores the injured cadet, goes to the valley center, and declines the red. Keep those two paths distinct when testing (Original route log[s17]).

What is missing: the poster did not record the final dialogue responses used to complete the blue bond. Treat this as an approach log to reach the meadow sighting, not a full bonding script; its claimed prerequisites remain unverified.

Why there is no blue or black drop rate here

You may see specific spawn percentages circulating in fan threads, but the underlying logs do not support hard probabilities. For example, the meadow-blue tester’s written summary states 38 eligible runs and 14 sightings, whereas adding up the four rows in their breakdown table gives 39 runs and 12 sightings (Figures in the original log[s17]). That internal mismatch alone is reason not to publish a calculated percentage. Sightings in the meadow do not equal completed bonds anyway.

Community mapper u/ClumsyBadger also highlights a classic sample bias: once a successful route is posted, dozens of players copy those exact steps. High volume on a copied route does not prove other paths are locked out (Mapping notes[s16]).

Finally, none of the verified sources support rumors about phone battery levels, wing assignments, or login code tricks influencing dragon color.
